What to expect from the Maldives

Maldives - What to Expect

Not Been to the Maldives Before?

...then prepare for a relaxing treat!

Expect:

Soft sand beaches, warm climate all year round, crystal clear seas, laid back service and a much slower way of life. The attraction is the "Robinson Crusoe" experience combined with the wonderful sealife.

Be prepared for:

Lying around in the sun, snorkeling or diving, or just flopping around in the sea. Some water sports, quiet relaxing meals, and depending on your resort, spa treatments and massages.

Do not expect:

Lively nightlife, shopping paradise, lots of restaurants and bars, a wide range of excursions or sight seeing trips. There are no "water parks" or "theme parks" and generally you will be on one small island for the duration, with a few restaurants and bars, and one or two shops. Excursions are limited to the occasional trip to a local inhabited island, where you may be able to buy a few hand made trinkets; or the odd fishing trip. Day trips to the capital, Male, are only possible if you are on an Island close to the town, and in any case the shopping and entertainment there is limited.
